The brief
Keep the variety of a mature planted garden while giving each plant room and keeping the stepping route visible. Avoid cutting every plant to the same shape.
Scope of work
Walk the beds to distinguish permanent planting from unwanted growth. Weed around the roots, remove spent or damaged material and prune selectively. Check the stepping stones for vegetation covering their edges.
Keeping it in shape
Review the border through the year as plants flower and fade. Keep notes on crowded areas so dividing or moving plants can happen at the right time.
